I'm counting the days to our balikbayan trip. (Returning home to SF Bay Area not the P.I.) What I'm most looking forward to is my nay-nay's cooking....bring on the empanadas and pancit! And, if my sister is open, I'd love to indulge my sweet tooth on her Fil-Am fusion candies. Apparently, she's using my parents and church friends as guinea pigs to taste her experiments. And it's torture to hear how about these delectables!
Unfortunately, the only Filipino food I've learned to cook is Chicken Adobo, which I've been told is more Spanish than Filipino. But the recipe is listed on a Filipino recipe site, so there's absolutely no way you can state the dish is more one than the other: http://www.filipinofoodrecipes.net/. With its history of Chinese, Spanish and American influences spanning centuries, this brings to question: what is Filipino?
