Suffice it to say, I was annoyed when hubby registered me as a Republican. I'm the kind of citizen that cares little about party lines and more about our future - so I care little about being a Democrat or Republican. But it must be either my husband's influence, my aging mind, or this presidential race that is making me wonder my stand.
Today, I saw 6 McCain/Palin stickers in various forms, i.e. Hunters for McCain, McCain, McCain/Palin. It was such an odd site since I typically see Obama stickers during my commute. When I called hubby, he shared that he would love to put his McCain/Palin sign on our yard, but fear reprisal from our Democrat neighbors.
Why? Just look at the news. Any Republican event is being protested, Republican candidates are rudely interrupted by Democrat and Liberal hecklers. And their own events? Not one Republican heckler interrupting the sacred political process of speaking your own mind. I'd welcome someone to change my mind on that point.
In the meantime, enjoy this story sent by my cousin (who is still in Iraq).
Subject: A sunny day in 2009-Semper Fi
In 2009, an old man approached the White House from across PennsylvaniaAvenue , where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, 'I would like to go inand meet with President Barack Obama.' The Marine replied, 'Sir, Mr. Obama is not President and doesn't reside here.' The old man said, 'Okay,' and walked away. The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, 'I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama'. The Marine again told the man, 'Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Obama is not President and doesn't reside here.' The man thanked him and again walked away. The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same Marine, saying 'I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama.' The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said , 'Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Obama. I've told you already several times that Mr. Obama is not the President and doesn't reside here. Don't you understand?' The old man answered, 'Oh, I understand you fine. I just love hearing youranswer!' The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, 'See you tomorrow.'
